When you purchase a puppy from a pet store, the newspaper or the internet you have no idea how the puppy was bred.

You have no idea how the puppy was reared, fed, or monitored for health issues.

You have no idea who the parents are or how they were bred or raised.

You have no indication of issues related to the pedigree of the puppy. There could be serious complications in the puppy's background that are not readily apparent.

You have no idea if the puppy was bred in a puppy mill.

You have no proof that the puppy or the parents have been health tested and up to date on all the health test.

As cute and wonderful as a puppy can be, you have no idea what temperament issues exist in the pedigree or the enviromental history of the pup.

Your best bet for finding a Boston Terrier puppy is through the Boston Terrier Club of America membership. The BTCA breeder referral , affiliate clubs and members websites can guide you to breeders in your area. Through this process you can find out the important information you need to know about a puppy's background, breeding and rearing.

Now a reputable breeder will also ask you a lot of questions. They will want to know that the puppy you purchase is going to a safe, healthy enviroment with lots of love.

Why? Because a reputable breeder realizes that their name and reputation are a part of every puppy they breed and place in a home. A reputable breeder will be available to you throughout the puppy's growth to answer questions and give advice.

Read a breeder's contract of sale carefully and be fully aware of the breeders resposibility and YOUR responsibility.

This gives you and your new puppy the best chance for a healthy, happy time together.
